Kintsugi Scars II

from £45.00

The ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi embraces imperfection and transforms somethingthat was broken into something of great beauty by carefully gluing the broken pieces of pottery together and then adorning the cracks with gold. The practise is part of the broader philosophy of embracing the beauty in the incomplete and in human flaws.  In this depiction, the restorative transformation happens because of Jesus’ blood running into the person’s scars; these may be physical scars or metaphorical, but only by the act of coming before the Lord and accepting the forgiveness that was paid for on the cross can our scars be healed.

Their scars had become the vessels through which their lights shone through. Lyrics from Switchfoot
