The Successor and the Sacrificed
The spirit lion (the successor) is carrying the lamb (the sacrificed) gently in his mouth like a lioness carries her cub. His eyes are full of sorrow and acceptance as He carries Him to a resting place away from the scoffing crowds. Here we see Jesus represented as man and as spirit at the same time depicting the transient moment between His death and resurrection.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
